The paradox of "Authority" power is that it functions more as a prison than a tool for liberation. Ainz Ooal Gown operates at YPS-4, a scale where he is a walking strategic deterrent, yet this high Power score masks a stagnant Ego. He is a prisoner of his own image, forced into a perpetual performance of the "Supreme Being" to satisfy the expectations of the Nazarick NPCs. His trajectory is one of erosion; the more he expands his empire, the more his human identity vanishes, replaced by the cold logic of a corporate manager. Beatrice, though operating at a lower YPS-3 tier, shares this bondage but experiences it as a psychological purgatory. Her centuries in the Forbidden Library were not a position of strength but a surrender to a singular, paralyzing directive to wait for "That Person." The gap in their YPS levels proves irrelevant here because both characters begin as static entities defined by their roles rather than their desires. The divergence occurs in how they break these chains. Beatrice achieves a psychological victory by embracing vulnerability and contracting with Subaru, trading her isolation for genuine agency. Ainz, conversely, doubles down on the facade. While Beatrice uses her growth to become more human, Ainz uses his to become a more efficient monster. This comparison proves that in the isekai framework, descending the power scale—or at least accepting its limits—is the only path to actual self-determination.
Archetype breakdowns and dispute court land in later phases.
