Agency in the shadow of a savior is a trap that functions differently depending on the starting point of the soul. While both characters occupy the YPS-4 tier, capable of dismantling national armies, their internal trajectories move in opposite directions. Alpha represents the tragedy of the overachiever; she builds a global economic empire and a military machine, yet her ego remains at zero because she views her brilliance as a mere reflection of Shadow's will. Her competence is her cage. In contrast, Raphtalia uses the same bond of loyalty as a ladder. She transforms from a traumatized slave into the Heavenly Emperor of Q'ten Lo, utilizing her connection to Naofumi not as a ceiling, but as a foundation for her own autonomy. The divergence is most visible in their Darkness and Growth scores. Raphtalia's scars are catalysts for resilience, whereas Alpha's perceived inferiority is a static weight. One character finds freedom through service, while the other finds a different kind of servitude through success. The paradox is that the more Alpha achieves for the world, the smaller she feels, while Raphtalia's ascent to political power is a direct result of her emotional healing. The difference is not in their capacity to fight, but in whether their power serves to erase their identity or forge a new one.
